Twenty years ago Rhonda Pearce noticed the local post office building at Glenbrook was to be auctioned the next day. She began to dream of a patchwork shop. Rhonda and her husband, Bruce, made a successful offer. Rhonda happily fitted out the shop, bought 89 bolts of fabric and set her dreams in motion.
Over the ensuing years Rhonda has developed many patterns and produced many outstanding quilts, including First Place in The NSW Quilters' Guild's "Professional, Traditional and Viewers' Choice 2007"category for her "Insanity" quilt, which has attracted a huge following, both in Australia and overseas.
More recently, she took out First Place in the "Traditional Applique" category of the International Quilt Association's "2013 Winners in Quilts: A World of Beauty" in Houston, Texas with her entry "Baltimore Classic". .
Today Post Office Patchwork is a well-known and well-loved destination supplying quality fabrics to quilters both locally and globally, and lessons to enthusiasts at all levels. New owner, Judy Tyrrell is thankful for the opportunity to continue the legacy Rhonda has created, and is passionate about fostering creativity in the fabric arts.
